Want to work with the AEgIS Collaboration at CERN?
If you are a student, researcher, or interested in working with us otherwise, here are ways you can get involved.

CERN Student Programs

Doctoral Student Programme

The CERN Doctoral Student Programme offers PhD students the opportunity to conduct their thesis research while spending up to 36 months immersed in groundbreaking science and technology. Open to those specializing in Applied Physics, Engineering, or Computing, the program allows students to contribute to world-renowned experiments and cutting-edge projects in fields ranging from particle physics and IT to materials science and environmental protection. Whether you’ve already chosen a research topic or are still exploring options, this is a unique chance to develop your expertise in a truly international and innovative environment—while directly supporting the mission of AEGIS at CERN.

Learn more about the student summer programme on the CERN Student Opportunities webpage.

Summer Student Programme

Students pursuing bachelor's or master's degrees in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics have the opportunity to join CERN experiments, including AEgIS, in Geneva during the European summer (June-September).
Over 8 to 13 weeks, you’ll work on an advanced technical project within an experimental or engineering team at CERN. Alongside hands-on experience, you’ll attend expert-led lectures, participate in workshops and facility visits, and conclude the program by submitting a short report on your project.

Learn more about the student summer programme on the CERN Summer Student Programme webpage.

Short-Term Internship

This practical training program is for undergraduate students in a technical or administrative field and includes on-the-job training at CERN in Geneva for 1-6 months.

CERN Openlab

CERN openlab offers a unique opportunity for companies to engage with CERN through collaborative R&D projects focused on advanced computing technologies. As a partner in CERN openlab, your organization can work directly with CERN researchers and engineers to co-develop innovative solutions in areas like quantum computing, AI, sustainable infrastructure, and scientific data management. This pathway allows industry partners to contribute to and benefit from cutting-edge research while supporting the broader goals of the AEGIS initiative. It’s an ideal entry point for companies looking to drive innovation and make a tangible impact in high-energy physics and beyond.

More information about CERN openlab can be found on their website.
